Both Sony and Microsoft launch their brand new consoles this winter, the companies have different strategies regarding their marquee racing titles though.
While Microsoft wants Forza Motorsport 5 to be a launch title for the new Xbox One at all costs (so much that most of the game will actually have to be downloaded off the internet to allow a maximum of development time until the launch), Sony’s Gran Turismo will make one more visit to the trusted PS3 platform.
This does not mean that Playstation 4 buyers will have to wait very long for Gran Turismo to get the next-gen treatment as well as GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed the following in an interview with the Japanese Famitsu magazine:
The PlayStation 4 game which we???ll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect???s going to be vital there as well.
A release of Gran Turismo 7 within the next two years would be a significant step up in development pace as three years passed between GT5 and GT6 while the platform change from Gran Turismo 4 (Playstation 2) to GT5 took even six years to complete.
