More and more apps become available that allow sim racers to use their smart phones and tablets as HUDs & data displays and here’s the newest – iHud.
Made by MightyGate, iHud works exclusively with rFactor and is made for Apple iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The application consists of two parts, a free plugin for rFactor that can be downloaded here and a iOS app that sells for 1.59???.
The plugin feeds the data from rFactor to the iOS devices where it’s displayed using a variety of skins. iHud is available in both English and Spanish and displays various values, including:
- RPM
- Speed
- Lap times & gaps
- Oil temp
- Water temp
- Actual position
Below is a video, showing the plugin in action on several devices, the full manual can be found here. A future version of iHud will even allow sim racers to create custom Huds themselves.
