Image Space Incorporated is celebrating ten years of rFactor as their trusted gMotor 2 powered simulation has been released exactly a decade ago!

rFactor was ISI’s first stand-alone product after making various titles for Electronic arts such as the still-legendary SCGT, the Formula One Series and NASCAR Thunder.

Despite coming with various, mostly-fictional, stock content, rFactor was aimed towards the modding community from the very beginning, giving the talent in the sim racing community the required tools to create create content themselves, a strategy that worked out well and inspired other modding-oriented titles like Assetto Corsa.

To celebrate the simulation’s big birthday, ISI is taking players down the nostalgia avenue by releasing one of rFactor’s stock tracks and a car to go along with it as Sardian Heights and the Kodi ZR can now be used inside rFactor 2.

The content release isn’t solely to celebrate rFactor but also to show off an important part of rFactor 2’s future as the car and track have been converted using ISI’s upcoming gJED tool that is supposed to give rFactor 2’s modding scene a major boost.

According to the studio, both car and track have been converted with just a few hours of working using the new tool despite having been equipped with many of rFactor 2’s specific features, hopefully giving modders some incentive to port their existing rFactor mods over to the new platform.

gJED is planned to be available later this week, more info on the tool is available here.
