Young Talent In Project CARS – William Tregurtha

William Tregurtha has joined Project CARS Young Driver Initiative.

Two months ago, Slightly Mad Studios revealed Christie Doran as the first promising young driver to join the Project CARS Young Drivers Initiative.

Now, a second promising young racer has joined the ranks of young racing talent who prepares with for their on-track competition with the WMD-powered simulation: William Tregurtha.

William races in the??2015 Ginetta Junior Championship that competes in support of Britain’s hugely-popular BTCC series, using Project CARS as part of his off-track preparation:

Project CARS has helped by giving me the opportunity to drive circuits before I get to them in real life. The tracks are all extremely close to reality and so are the cars.

The fact that Slightly Mad Studios have built a community-centred game using real world drivers to push forward the sim has helped. I have been given the opportunity to be a part of this and to contribute to the project which is very rewarding. I have focused mainly on the Ginetta Junior as that is what I will be racing this year, and I can say that it is a very realistic representation of the real thing with every little detail appearing to have been modelled (though I look forward to our new rear wings appearing in the game!)

Why Project Cars? I chose Project CARS as it gave me the cars and tracks that I needed right now. And also because the project was community-driven, meaning that there is something for everyone and when the other sims could not perform, Project CARS could. Even on a laptop you can go and compete online against the others and win.

It’s really been a vital tool to use in preparation for testing and races. I can put time in on the sim and it shows in real life. I can be confident of braking points and the track layout to be faster in the real world. It has meant that when I need to learn a track, I can and not use a video that could easily be out of date.

But it is not all serious – If I want to have a bit of fun I can do that too! I like to try and drive the Nordschleife in the Lotus 78 at night with no headlights for example. Which is ‘slightly Mad’ ????
