Matthias “Steppenwolf” Schmidt has released a scratch-made version of the Sachsenring for rFactor, bringing the German road course to the simulation.
Located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal near Chemnitz, the Sachsenring started out as a 8,7 kilometer high speed track that turned out to be the most popular tack in East Germany, attracting up to 400.000 spectators.
Following the German reunification, the track was rebuilt and modified several times, establishing today’s 3,6 km layout that includes some stunning elevation changes. Today, the Sachsenring hosts notable events such as the MotoGP, the ADAC GT Masters series as well as other motorcycle events.
