The guys over at SimHQ.com have released a very interesting Q&A article with Image Space Incorporated’s Gjon Camaj, revealing some very interesting details about ISI’s upcoming rFactor 2 simulation.
Details in a nutshell:
– There’s a less than 48% chance that rFactor 2 will be released in 2010
– ISI will be adding more licensed content post-release
– The new AIW system allows multiple paths depending on car type and driver style
– rFactor 2 will be using a technology called “RealRoad”, a dynamic racing surface allowing rubbering in of tracks, marbles, drylines during rain races & more
– The title will be using DircetX9, the DirectX 7 & 8 options known from rFactor will be abandoned
– rFactor Light will return with rF2
– rFactor 2 will be having built-in mod tools, making modding easier (see screenshot of the new “rFTools” module below)
– rFactor 2 will have no built-in server for multiplayer races, the dedicated server method being the only option

rFactor 2 will introduce various improvements to the modding-friendly simulation including weather, driver animations and a refined graphics engine. ISI has not announced a definite release date yet, the company is still aiming to release their newest title by the end of 2010 though.
