The Oculus Team has confirmed the release date of the much-anticipated Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
The retail version of the Rift is expected to go on sale in Q1 2016, pre-orders will be accepted starting late 2015.
Started as a Kickstarter project, the Rift has since become a much-discussed device that many believe will reshape the way games are experienced.
For sim racing, the Rift is expected to become a serious alternative to multi-monitor setups with many experts predicting that the headset will make such solutions obsolete altogether.
Despite only development versions having been available so far, most major sim racing titles already come with early support for the Rift, a compatibility that will surely be refined further once the retail device hits the streets.
