iRacing has added a new fictional track to the their online racing simulation, bringing back a classic from the earlier days of sim racing with the iRacing Superspeedway.
Veteran sim racers will surely remember this track from the Papyrus NASCAR games, predecessors to iRacing. Named Coca Cola Superspeedway in NASCAR Racing 2003, the track is a three-mile oval, making it longer and faster than NASCAR’s real-life super speedways in Daytona & Talladega.
If you watch the onboard video below, you’ll get an idea why no such track configuration is used in competition in real life as unrestricted NASCAR stock cars reach speeds of 247 miles per hour on the track, far beyond anything that would be considered remotely safe in case of accidents.
