Unlike the brand new ClubSport wheel base, Fanatec’s CSR Elite model does not feature the ability to swap rims easily. Still, Fanatec has promised to offer buyers of the wheel a replacement rim and now the company’s coming true on their promise.
The Formula rim for the CSR Elite is similar to that offered for the ClubSport wheel, coming with a few limitations in terms of the button layout that is caused by the wheel’s Xbox 360 compatibility.
The rim comes with artificial leather hand grips and the same sturdy metal construction & shifter paddles found on the Formula rim for the ClubSport wheel base.
Since the wheel does not feature a quick release mechanism, replacing the rim requires a bit more fiddling as shown off in the video below. Furthermore, a firmware update for the wheel will be required.
The CSR Elite Formula rim will be available starting in Q3, selling for 179.95 Euros (including VAT)/ 179.95 Dollars (excluding VAT). This will be the only rim offered for the CSR Elite as Fanatec is concentrating on further add-on rims for the ClubSport wheel.
