The Online Racing Association will launch an official virtual Avon Tyres British GT Championship using Project CARS to run alongside the real-life racing series this season.

The virtual counterpart of the popular British GT racing series will be using the Xbox One version of the recently-released WMD-powered simulation, using a seven-round calendar that closely follows the one of the real-life series.

The championship will make use of Project CARS extensive lineup of GT3 & GT4 machinery as well as the large selection of British tracks, including laser-scanned versions of Brands Hatch, Oulton Park & Snetterton.

???Sim racing and real world motorsport have tended to exist separately up until very recently, but we???re hoping to help change that,?????said British GT Championship Manager Benjamin Franassovici.

???We???ve been approached about this sort of opportunity before but never felt like the technology could do the championship justice. TORA???s active community, stature and organisation allied to the accuracy of Project CARS changes all that and I can???t wait to see how the partnership develops. Hopefully fans and gamers alike will gain an insight into each other???s respective championships, which can only be a good thing for British GT as a whole.???

Just like the real-life British GT series, the virtual championship will get extensive TV coverage on MotorsTV alongside internet broadcasts on Youtube and Twitch.

More details on the virtual championship are due to be revealed on the British GT Media Day on May 24, ahead of the series’ first round at Oulton Park on June 7.

Project CARS is??now available on Steam, boxed??copies are??available here.
