2011 Is Just Around The Corner..

Yes, it’s that time of the year again, feels almost like yesterday that I´ve put together the last year-ending story. 2010 is almost gone and it’s safe to say that it has been an exciting year for sim racing and VirtualR.

Aside from the usual suspects such as rFactor, iRacing and Simbin’s simulations, two of the hottest topics in 2010 were the releases of Codemasters’ F1 2010 and Gran Turismo 5 that led to plenty of heated discussions in the community. The biggest surprise of 2010 certainly was Ferrari Virtual Academy 2010 though, a full-blown Formula One simulator that came out of the blue and proved that the netKar Pro engine is more powerful than many expected.

2011 should be no less exciting for sim racers as two very important new titles will see the light of day in the coming 12 months – rFactor 2 & Simbin’s new title backed by a brand new graphics engine. Combine that with the ever-expanding iRacing, a revived netKar Pro, Need for Speed Shift 2, F1 2011 by Codemasters and lots of interesting new hardware products and the future looks very bright for fans of virtual racing.

The past 12 months were great for VirtualR as well as 2010 had more than 5.5 million readers visiting this site for the latest news and info. While the site’s layout remained unchanged in 2010, a new comment system has been introduced in July and seems to have grown on most of the community.

The last day of the year is the perfect time to say thanks, that’s why I would like to thank all the readers, news reporters, comment posters, modders, developers and everyone else who keeps this site’s community and sim racing in general alive and healthy.

A special thank you goes out to the bunch of donators who`ve not just opened their hearts but also their wallets to support VirtualR, without you and my loyal advertising partners this site would not be able to exist.

Personally, I`m happy to say that I´m as committed and motivated as ever and very excited about what the future has in store for our favorite hobby. I wish all of you a pleasant 2011 and hope to see all of you coming back next year!
